A group of PhD students during a retreat

PhD Student Retreat

The annual PhD Student Retreat offers every PhD student the opportunity to benefit from the overall scientific scope and knowledge of our doctoral community by creating space for intense and inspiring discussions about the research of each PhD student. Throughout the course of the discussions, many existing collaborations are enhanced and new ones started. In addition, the retreat allows time for socializing away from the pressures of the lab or office and building friendships and networks.

The student organizing committee decides on the schedule and invites international experts to join the PhD Student Retreat. In addition to a keynote lecture, the guest speakers input to the scientific discussion during the retreat, further broadening the horizons of all participants. Often the guest speakers also share their career path and career tips. Students in their second year or beyond are invited to join the organizing committee and test out their creative, management and team-building skills.
